- Text composition that is easier to write and easier to read, with increased comprehension and impact.
- Uncluttered reading without intrusive and predatory advertising.
- Content that is crafted to maximize the benefits delivered to paying readers, rather than devised as click-bait.
- DDOS attacks are practically impossible, giving cost savings to authors that can be passed on to book consumers.
- AI scraping is practically impossible, so the intellectual property of authors is protected from theft.
details
- These are unadorned, plain text "books", intended for scholarly reading, study, and discussion.
- Illustrations and other multimedia must reside elsewhere and be displayed using html markup.
- Each subscriber runs an unsigned custom program, which uses the computer's default browser to display content in a new tab.
- The unsigned custom program contains the subscriber's credentials, so must be secured.
- The custom program is immediately created and emailed to each new subscriber, usually arriving within five minutes.
trust
- Trust: Windows will display a warning about running unsigned programs; the subscriber must click "run anyway".
- Trust: The "about" link at top left introduces who we are and provides identity verification links and information.
limitations and objections
A Windows personal computer is required because mobile phones, which lack keyboards and pointing devices and have small displays, are not optimal for reading scholarly English composition writings, especially "knowledge tree" writings.
There is a reason why practically every book ever printed since 1455, when the Gutenberg Bible became available, displayed text on pages significantly larger than the screens of most mobile phones in use today.
Mobile phones are convenient and great for casual browsing of news and social media while riding a bus.
But for the serious study of scholarly or other carefully reasoned writing, a much larger page size is optimal.
This is especially true for knowledge tree writings, which require far more active reading, because the reader frequently clicks a sentence to "climb up" for more detail, and then climbs back down to continue reading at the lower level of detail.
The required "key" program is unsigned because it is the craftwork of an independent software developer who is a California resident and a wanderer with no fixed physical address, and who does not want to incorporate.
Code signing is also expensive and complicated, and those costs would be passed on as an increased subscription price.
If you subscribe, you will know, and be able to prove, that the unsigned key program was emailed to you by servers controlled by the IDEAFARM.COM domain owner.
That is a valuable domain, and its owner has an economic incentive to maintain IDEAFARM.COM's good reputation, both with the payment processor (Stripe) and in the market.
Knowingly sending a key program to you that contains malware is a wobbler felony punishable by up to three years in state prison and/or a $10,000 fine. (California Penal Code 502(c)(8))
Sending you malware would also create civil liability for compensatory and punitive damages and for your attorney's fees. (California Penal Code 502(e))
The owner of IDEAFARM.COM wrote all of the software involved, including the order fulfillment system, so malware can't be inserted without his knowledge.
He's not going to send you malware; that would be very stupid.
To decide whether to trust the owner of IDEAFARM.COM, you must weigh the probability that he is a bad actor against the likely benefits to you of trusting him and proceeding.
