They were all taken in the Oakland, California area, either in downtown Oakland or in the City of Alameda. In the years indicated, I was active as a "street speaker". Those were years of exceptional violence on the street, and being a street speaker made me a magnet for nutcases, so I was normally armed with a dagger and tear gas and, when speaking, body armor and a shield:
