Courtship is about marriage, is village behavior, and is inherently not predatory.
A "village" is a coalition of individuals who cooperate in order to win at the game of life presented by the chaos and violence of the jungle. The "way of life" of a village primarily involves gender roles, because the fundamental fact that forces individuals to form a coalition is that child bearing females are precious and vulnerable, while young males are formidable and expendible. Courtship and marriage are the oo foundational components of any village's "way of life". The subject of the former is how a male and a female should be selected to form a couple within the village. The subject of the latter is how such a couple should behave with each other, and how others in the village should behave with them. Within the "way of life" of a village, "dating" plays no part, except that the courtship rules likely forbid it.
